Acupressure Mats And Weight Loss

The Heavenly Acupressure Mats can help you lose weight and keep it off.

Life can be stressful. Stress can come from many sources including work, money, health, family, relationships, the economy, or the environment.  What you might not know is that stress produces body fat!

An article in the magazine Yoga Journal  states that “people under chronic stress secrete hormones that cause their bodies to sock away fat around their bellies.” and that, “Unlike fat that lands on thighs and buttocks, abdominal fat is irrevocably linked to stress.”   Levels of the hormone cortisol rise in people who experience stress, and when that stress is experienced for prolonged periods of time, the cortisol levels stay high. Increased cortisol levels stimulate eating and also efficiently convert any additional calories to fat.

High levels of stress commonly trigger pacifying behaviors and or cravings for comforting substances which are usually high-fat, high-sugar,and high-calorie foods such as cookies, ice cream, cakes, and alchohol.
So stress-related weight gain can be stopped and reversed by reducing the stress in your life.  There have been  many studies that show the benefits and effectiveness of yoga, meditation, exercise, massage, acupuncture, acupressure mats, and other techniques and tools for reducing stress.

Recently Dr. Oz who has the Dr. Oz TV Show listed the acupressure mat as one of his three "must haves" for weight loss.  He went on to explain that one can also use tools such as the acupressure mat to help with natural weight loss simply by lying on the acupressure mat for 20 minutes or more each day.  The acupressure mat stimulates the release of endorphins and other chemicals in your body that result in a reduction of cortisol while increasing calmness and relaxation.  Using an acupressure mat also increases your body's metabolism which helps with digestion.  Use of an acupressure mat is effective, affordable and easy.
According to Judith Lasater, the author of Relax and Renew: Restful Yoga for Stressful Times, writes, “The antidote to stress is relaxation. To relax is to rest deeply. Relaxation is a state in which there is no movement, no effort, and the brain is quiet.”  This relaxation is different from sleep, and from watching TV, which engage muscular tension and brain wave activity.

With the help of an acupressure mat, physical exercise, and relaxation techniques, you can not only stop weight gain, but also lose weight.
Stress relief and feelings of well-being fostered by a regular use on an acupressure mat, and physical exercise such as yoga, serve to re-balance the nervous system.
